8BitDo has officially launched the FlipPad, a compact game controller designed for both Android and iOS devices, priced at $29.99. Initially unveiled at CES 2026, the FlipPad is now available for purchase.
The FlipPad features a minimalist design, including a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, Select and Start keys, and L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons. This streamlined layout makes it particularly suitable for mobile gaming, especially for emulator applications.
Connecting via USB-C, the FlipPad attaches to the top of a smartphone screen using a hinge mechanism. This design allows users to easily flip the controller away from the screen when not in use, facilitating quick access to the device’s display without the need to disconnect the controller. A rubberized pad on the back ensures the screen remains protected during use.
Unlike many mobile controllers that rely on Bluetooth connectivity and require charging, the FlipPad operates without batteries or pairing processes, offering a plug-and-play experience. This simplicity, combined with its compact form factor, makes it a convenient option for on-the-go gaming.
Durability has been a focus in the FlipPad’s design. 8BitDo claims the controller can withstand over 10,000 USB-C insertions, and the hinge mechanism is rated for more than 6,000 open and close cycles. To use the FlipPad, devices must run Android 13 or higher, or iOS 26.2 or later.
The FlipPad is available for purchase through Amazon and 8BitDo’s official store, priced at $29.99 in the United States, €29.99 in Europe, and £24.99 in the United Kingdom.
In a market saturated with mobile gaming accessories, the FlipPad’s unique design and user-friendly features set it apart. Its compact size and straightforward functionality cater to gamers seeking a portable and hassle-free controller solution. As mobile gaming continues to grow, devices like the FlipPad highlight the industry’s commitment to enhancing the gaming experience on smartphones.
