The Browser Company has unveiled a Pro subscription plan for its AI-integrated web browser, Dia, priced at $20 per month. This plan offers users unlimited access to Dia’s AI-driven chat and skills features, marking the company’s first venture into a revenue-generating subscription model.
With the introduction of this paid tier, free users will now encounter limitations on AI feature usage. While specific restrictions have not been detailed, CEO Josh Miller indicated in a July interview with The New York Times that the browser will remain free for those utilizing AI features a few times a week.
Miller also revealed plans to offer multiple subscription tiers, ranging from $5 per month to several hundred dollars monthly, suggesting that the current $20 plan is part of a broader strategy to cater to diverse user needs.
Earlier this week, users on Reddit and Threads observed that The Browser Company had quietly made the Pro plan available online, only to remove it shortly thereafter. The subscription option has since been reinstated and is accessible through Dia’s settings page.
The Browser Company, known for its previous development of the Arc browser, has secured $128 million in funding from investors such as Pace Capital, Next Play Ventures, and prominent tech executives including LinkedIn’s Jeff Weiner, Medium’s Ev Williams, Figma’s Dylan Field, Notion’s Akshay Kothari, and GitHub’s Jason Warner. The launch of the Pro plan signifies the company’s initial step into generating revenue through subscription services.
The company faces increasing competition in the AI-enhanced browser market. Perplexity’s Comet browser is gaining traction, Opera is preparing its Neon browser, and established players like Google and Microsoft are integrating AI assistants into their browsers.
