Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is poised to introduce several enhancements over its predecessors, yet it appears the device will maintain the same battery capacity as previous models. Regulatory filings from UL Demko reveal that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will continue to feature a 4,400mAh battery, consistent with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
This decision to retain the existing battery size is particularly noteworthy given the device’s anticipated upgrades. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to showcase a slimmer and more durable design, incorporating an 8.2-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display. These screens are likely to utilize LTPO AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Additionally, the device is rumored to house a 200MP main camera, a significant leap from the 50MP sensor found in the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB. Despite the unchanged battery capacity, efficiency improvements through display and cooling optimizations are expected to enhance overall battery life. The device is also projected to run One UI 8 based on Android 16 and feature a reduced display crease with improved hinge durability.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to receive a slight battery capacity increase to 4,300mAh, narrowing the gap between the two foldable models. This development raises questions about Samsung’s strategy in differentiating the battery performance of its foldable devices.
While the decision to maintain the same battery capacity in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 may disappoint some consumers, the combination of hardware and software optimizations aims to deliver a more efficient and powerful foldable smartphone experience.
