Samsung Galaxy Watch Users in the U.S. Gain Blood Pressure Monitoring Feature
Samsung has announced that, starting March 31, 2026, Galaxy Watch users in the United States can now monitor their blood pressure directly from their wrists. This feature, previously unavailable in the U.S., is accessible through the Samsung Health Monitor app and is compatible with Galaxy Watch models from the Galaxy Watch4 onward.
High blood pressure affects nearly half of all adults in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Unmanaged hypertension increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, leading causes of death in the country. By enabling users to measure and track their blood pressure, Samsung aims to provide greater insight into personal health, empowering individuals to make informed decisions and adopt healthier lifestyles.
To utilize this feature, users must calibrate their Galaxy Watch with a traditional upper arm blood pressure cuff, which is sold separately. This calibration process ensures accuracy and must be repeated every 28 days. Once calibrated, the watch measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure, along with heart rate, using its internal sensors. The readings are displayed on the watch and stored in the Samsung Health Monitor app for tracking and analysis.
It’s important to note that while this feature provides valuable health insights, it is not intended to diagnose or prevent high blood pressure. Users should consult healthcare professionals for medical advice and treatment.
This addition complements other health and wellness tools available to Galaxy Watch users, such as electrocardiogram (ECG) readings and irregular heart rhythm notifications. These features collectively contribute to a comprehensive health monitoring experience, reinforcing Samsung’s commitment to user well-being.
The blood pressure monitoring feature is available on Galaxy Watch4 and later models running Watch OS 4.0 or higher, paired with Galaxy smartphones running Android OS 12 or higher. Users can download the Samsung Health Monitor app to access this functionality.
By expanding the availability of blood pressure monitoring to U.S. users, Samsung continues to enhance the health capabilities of its wearable devices, offering tools that support proactive health management.
