Samsung Galaxy S26 Gains AirDrop Compatibility Through Quick Share Update
Samsung has officially announced the rollout of AirDrop compatibility for its Galaxy S26 series via an update to its Quick Share feature. This enhancement enables seamless file sharing between Galaxy S26 devices and Apple products, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
The integration of AirDrop support into Quick Share was first introduced by Google on the Pixel 10 series in 2025, allowing cross-platform file sharing without direct collaboration from Apple. This functionality has since expanded to the Pixel 9 series and is now being extended to Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup.
To activate this feature, users must ensure their devices are updated to Google Play Services version 26.11.XX or higher. As of now, the widely available version is 26.10.XX, but the newer version is expected to be released in the coming weeks. Users can check for updates by visiting the Google Play Services page in the Google Play Store.
It’s important to note that updating Google Play Services alone may not immediately enable AirDrop functionality. The rollout is region-specific, with initial availability in select areas and a broader release anticipated soon. Users are advised to monitor official Samsung communications for updates on availability in their region.
This development marks a significant step in enhancing interoperability between Android and iOS devices, offering users a more cohesive and efficient file-sharing experience.
