Pixel Watch March 2026 Update Adds Express Pay, Phone Alerts, and Satellite SOS Expansion

Pixel Watch’s March 2026 Feature Drop Introduces Express Pay, Phone Reminders, and More

Google’s March 2026 Pixel Feature Drop brings a suite of enhancements to the Pixel Watch, focusing on convenience, security, and user experience.

Express Pay for Seamless Transactions

The new Express Pay feature allows Pixel Watch users to make NFC payments without opening the Google Wallet app. By simply turning and tapping the watch to a retail terminal, transactions become quicker and more efficient. Users can configure Express Pay for both Tap to pay and transit or exclusively for Transit only, providing flexibility based on individual preferences. This feature is available on Pixel Watch 2 and newer models.

Phone Reminders and Automatic Locking

To prevent the inconvenience of leaving your phone behind, the Pixel Watch now offers an alert system that notifies users when their paired phone is out of range. Additionally, for enhanced security, the connected phone can automatically lock if the connection with the watch is lost. These features are compatible with Pixel 8 and newer phones when paired with Pixel Watch 2 and newer models.

Faster Identity Verification

The integration between Pixel phones and watches has been strengthened to facilitate quicker identity checks. When the devices are connected, users can experience faster and more secure access, with PIN options available for this feature on Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 and newer phones, and Pixel Watch 3 and newer models.

One-Handed Gestures for Enhanced Usability

Building upon previous iterations, the Pixel Watch 3 introduces one-handed gestures, allowing users to perform actions such as snoozing alarms, controlling timers, answering calls, taking pictures, and scrolling through notifications with simple hand movements. This feature aims to improve accessibility and ease of use.

Expanded Satellite SOS Coverage

Safety features have been bolstered with the expansion of Satellite SOS on the Pixel Watch 4. Previously limited to the continental United States, this lifesaving feature now extends to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and Europe, enabling users to contact emergency services even when outside cellular coverage areas.

Standalone Android Earthquake Alerts

The Pixel Watch 2 and newer models now support Android Earthquake Alerts independently of a paired phone. This advancement ensures that users receive timely warnings about seismic activity, providing crucial seconds to seek safety.

These updates reflect Google’s commitment to enhancing the functionality and user experience of the Pixel Watch, making it a more integral part of daily life.
