Oppo’s Find X9 Series to Introduce AirDrop Compatibility via Android Quick Share This Month
Oppo has announced that its latest Find X9 series smartphones will soon support seamless file transfers with Apple devices through an upcoming update to Android’s Quick Share feature. This enhancement, developed in collaboration with MediaTek and Google, is set to roll out later this month, enabling users to transfer files between Oppo smartphones and devices running iOS, iPadOS, and macOS without the need for third-party applications.
The integration of AirDrop-like functionality into Android’s Quick Share marks a significant advancement in cross-platform interoperability. Previously, such seamless file sharing was primarily available within the Apple ecosystem. With this update, Oppo users will experience a more unified and efficient method of transferring files across different operating systems.
This development follows Google’s recent expansion of Quick Share’s AirDrop support to its Pixel 9 series, indicating a broader trend towards enhancing file-sharing capabilities across various Android devices. While Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series does not yet support AirDrop via Quick Share, there is speculation that such functionality may be introduced in future updates.
In addition to the Quick Share update, Oppo’s announcement at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) included the introduction of new on-device AI features for the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro models. These features include AI Translate and AI Portrait Glow, designed to enhance user experience by providing real-time translation and improved portrait photography. Oppo also unveiled Omni, an on-device full-modal AI model that enables live scene understanding and interactive Q&A directly on the smartphone.
The upcoming Quick Share update is expected to be delivered via a software update starting in March. Users are advised to ensure their devices are updated to the latest software version to take advantage of these new features.
