Massive Data Breach at 700Credit Exposes Personal Information of 5.6 Million Individuals

In a significant cybersecurity incident, 700Credit, a prominent provider of credit reporting and identity verification services for automotive dealerships across the United States, has reported a data breach affecting at least 5.6 million individuals. The compromised data includes sensitive personal information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers.

The Michigan-based company disclosed that the breach occurred in October 2025 and was perpetrated by an unidentified malicious actor. The stolen data pertains to information collected from auto dealers between May and October 2025. In response, 700Credit has initiated the process of notifying affected individuals via mail, offering credit monitoring services to mitigate potential risks.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel emphasized the importance of vigilance among those impacted, stating, If you receive a letter from 700Credit, do not disregard it. It is crucial for anyone affected by this data breach to take immediate steps to safeguard their information. Implementing a credit freeze or utilizing monitoring services can be instrumental in preventing fraud, and I encourage residents to leverage the available tools to protect their identities.
