Jeep Introduces All-Electric Recon SUV, Pioneering Eco-Friendly Off-Roading

Jeep Unveils the All-Electric Recon: A New Era for Off-Roading

Jeep has officially introduced the 2026 Jeep Recon, an all-electric SUV designed to redefine off-road adventures. With an estimated range of 250 miles, the Recon combines Jeep’s legendary ruggedness with modern electric vehicle (EV) technology.

The Recon’s journey began in 2022 when Jeep announced plans to launch three EVs, including the Recon and Wagoneer S, aiming to lead the electrified SUV market. While the Wagoneer S debuted in early 2025, the Recon’s development faced delays amid shifting industry dynamics. Despite these challenges, Jeep remained committed to bringing the Recon to market.

Priced at $65,000 (excluding a $1,995 destination fee), the Recon will be produced at the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico, with initial availability in the U.S. and Canada, followed by a global rollout. As a Trail Rated vehicle, the Recon boasts features tailored for off-road enthusiasts, including:

– Selec-Terrain traction management system
– Underbody protection
– Tow hooks
– Off-road tires
– E-locker axle technology for enhanced torque distribution

The Recon’s introduction comes at a pivotal time for Stellantis, Jeep’s parent company. In recent months, Stellantis has adjusted its electrification strategy, canceling plans for a battery-electric full-size pickup and focusing on extended-range models. Additionally, a $13 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing was announced, emphasizing a broader revival plan under new leadership.

Despite these strategic shifts, the Recon’s launch underscores Jeep’s dedication to innovation and its commitment to providing consumers with versatile, eco-friendly vehicles that uphold the brand’s off-road legacy.
