Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro to Feature a More Compact Dynamic Island
Recent leaks and reports suggest that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will introduce a significantly smaller Dynamic Island, marking a notable evolution in the device’s display design.
The Dynamic Island, first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro, is the pill-shaped interactive area at the top of the screen that adapts to display ongoing activities while concealing the front camera and Face ID sensor cutouts. According to a recent report, the iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island is expected to be approximately 35% narrower than its predecessor, reducing from around 20.7mm to about 13.5mm. This reduction is anticipated to be achieved by relocating certain Face ID components beneath the display, allowing for a more streamlined design.
Supporting this claim, leaker Ice Universe shared an image purportedly showing an iPhone 18 Pro screen protector with noticeably smaller cutouts compared to current models. This visual evidence aligns with the reported dimensions and suggests that accessory manufacturers are preparing for this design change.
However, there have been conflicting reports regarding the Dynamic Island’s future. Some sources, such as Digital Chat Station, have indicated that the Dynamic Island’s size may remain unchanged in the iPhone 18 Pro, with plans for under-display Face ID and a reduced Dynamic Island potentially delayed to future generations. Despite these differing viewpoints, the majority of recent leaks and accessory designs point toward a smaller Dynamic Island in the upcoming model.
In addition to the Dynamic Island modifications, the iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to feature other enhancements, including the adoption of a 2nm A20 Pro chip, a battery capacity exceeding 5,000mAh, and improved camera hardware with larger apertures. These upgrades aim to deliver better performance, longer battery life, and enhanced photography capabilities.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro models in September 2026. As the launch date approaches, more concrete information will likely emerge, providing a clearer picture of the device’s final design and features.
