Google’s Pixel Camera 10.3 Update: Pro Zoom Renaming, External Camera Support, Bug Fixes

Google’s Pixel Camera 10.3 Update: Pro Res Zoom Renamed and Enhanced Connectivity

Google has initiated the rollout of Pixel Camera version 10.3, marking the first update of 2026. This release introduces subtle yet noteworthy changes aimed at refining user experience and expanding device compatibility.

Renaming of Pro Res Zoom

A significant modification in this update is the rebranding of the Pro Res Zoom feature to Pro Zoom on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL models. This change is evident in the Settings under the Model download section and within the Camera Help page. Users will also notice the updated nomenclature in processing prompts and related descriptions. Additionally, the Pixel 10 Pro’s product listing has been updated to reflect this new naming convention.

Enhanced Connected Cameras Feature

The Connected Cameras functionality has been expanded to support external devices such as webcams, DSLR cameras, and other Pixel phone cameras via USB connections. This enhancement is available on Pixel 6 and newer models, provided the external cameras are compatible with the USB Video Class specification.

However, there are specific device restrictions to note:

– For Pixel 6 and later models (excluding Pixel 10 and Pixel A-series devices), users can connect to other Pixel phones (except Pixel 10 and Pixel A-series devices), GoPro cameras, and USB cameras.

– For Pixel 10 and Pixel A-series devices from Pixel 6a and later, connections are limited to GoPro cameras and USB cameras.

Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements

Accompanying the Android 16 QPR3 March 2026 update, this release addresses a critical issue that previously caused the camera service to crash, thereby enhancing overall camera stability for Pixel 9 and newer models.

Availability

The Pixel Camera 10.3 update was initially available for the Pixel 10a and is now being progressively rolled out to all compatible devices via the Google Play Store.
