Google Releases Wear OS 6 Update for Pixel Watch 2 and 3

In anticipation of the Pixel Watch 4’s official release, Google has begun deploying the Wear OS 6 update to its Pixel Watch 2 and 3 models. This update, identified by build number BP3A.250905.014.W3, is compatible with both Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE versions of these devices.

The original Pixel Watch, launched in 2022, is not included in this initial rollout. However, given Google’s commitment to providing software updates for this device until at least October 2025, it is expected to receive the Wear OS 6 update in the near future. Notably, Google’s current release notes specifically mention only the Pixel Watch 2 and 3.

This update follows the previous one released in June, adhering to Google’s quarterly update schedule for the Pixel Watch series. Users can manually initiate the update by navigating to Settings > System > System updates on their watch and tapping the “Your watch is up to date” screen multiple times. To expedite the download process, it’s advisable to disable Bluetooth and rely on Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Wear OS 6 update introduces a comprehensive Material 3 Expressive redesign, enhancing the user interface with updated lockscreen keypads, Quick Settings, and notifications. Dynamic Color theming, which adapts the system’s color scheme based on the selected watch face, is now available, affecting notifications, Tiles, and certain apps.

Additionally, the Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer apps have been redesigned to align with the refreshed interface. Post-update, users should visit the Play Store to update apps like Wear Media and Pixel Weather to ensure full compatibility with the new system.

It’s important to note that this update does not include the new watch faces introduced with the Pixel Watch 4.
