Google has initiated the rollout of the April 2025 update for its Pixel Watch lineup, encompassing the original Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3. This update, identified by build number BP1A.250305.019.W7, is based on Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15, following the previous BP1A.250305.019.W3 release.
The primary focus of this update is to address existing bugs and enhance system stability. Notably, it aims to resolve issues related to delayed notifications that some users have reported. Despite these improvements, the security patch level remains at March 5, 2025.
To install the update, users can navigate to Settings > System > System updates on their Pixel Watch. If the update isn’t immediately available, tapping the Your watch is up to date screen multiple times may prompt the download. For a faster update process, users can disable Bluetooth in the Connectivity preferences to force the watch to use Wi-Fi.
This release marks a shift in Google’s update strategy for the Pixel Watch series. Previously, the company announced a move to quarterly updates, with the next major update scheduled for June 2025. However, this April update indicates that Google remains committed to providing interim patches to address critical issues between major releases.
In addition to system updates, Google continues to introduce new features through app updates. For instance, the recently announced Scam Detection capability enhances user security by identifying potential fraudulent activities directly from the watch.
Overall, the April 2025 update underscores Google’s dedication to refining the Pixel Watch experience, ensuring users benefit from a stable and feature-rich wearable platform.
