Gmail Enhances Package Tracking with New ‘Purchases’ Tab

Google has introduced a significant update to Gmail, unveiling a Purchases tab designed to streamline the management of package deliveries. This new feature consolidates all purchase-related emails, encompassing both current and past orders, into a single, accessible location.

Previously, Gmail highlighted packages scheduled for delivery within 24 hours at the top of users’ inboxes. The Purchases tab builds upon this by offering a comprehensive view of all purchase information, eliminating the need to sift through individual emails.

This enhancement is an extension of Gmail’s package-tracking capabilities, which were first introduced in 2022. The initial feature allowed users to monitor upcoming deliveries directly from their inboxes without navigating to external carrier websites. The Purchases tab further simplifies this process by aggregating all relevant information in one place.

Google emphasizes the utility of this feature, especially during peak shopping periods. According to PwC’s 2025 holiday outlook, 39% of total planned holiday gift spending is anticipated to occur between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. The Purchases tab aims to assist users in efficiently tracking these shipments, ensuring timely arrivals and reducing the stress associated with holiday shopping.

The rollout of the Purchases tab commenced on September 11, 2025, and is available to users worldwide with personal Google accounts on both mobile and web platforms.

In addition to the Purchases tab, Google has announced updates to the Promotions category within Gmail. Users will soon have the ability to sort promotional emails by most relevant, facilitating easier access to deals from preferred brands. Furthermore, Gmail will proactively notify users about upcoming deals and timely offers, ensuring they never miss out on significant savings. This update is slated to roll out in the coming weeks to users with personal Google accounts on mobile devices.

These enhancements reflect Google’s ongoing commitment to improving user experience by integrating practical features directly into Gmail. By centralizing purchase information and refining promotional email management, Gmail continues to evolve as a comprehensive tool for both communication and organization.
