Gemini App Enhances User Experience with Persistent Model Selection

Google’s Gemini app has introduced a significant update that enhances user experience by remembering the AI model selection across sessions. Previously, users had to reselect their preferred model each time they reopened the app, especially after force-stopping the application or restarting their device. With the latest update, the app now retains the chosen model, streamlining interactions and saving time.

This improvement is particularly beneficial for users who prefer specific models like the newly introduced Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) or the 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental). By maintaining the selected model, the app ensures a consistent and personalized experience, reducing the need for repetitive adjustments.

The update is currently available in the beta version of the Google app (version 16.11) on Android devices and is expected to roll out to the stable channel in the coming weeks. Users can access this feature by updating their app through the Google Play Store. While this enhancement is live on the web version of Gemini across multiple tabs and devices, it has not yet been implemented in the iPhone app.

This development reflects Google’s commitment to improving user experience by addressing feedback and introducing features that cater to user preferences. By remembering model selections, the Gemini app not only saves time but also ensures a more seamless and efficient interaction with its AI capabilities.
