Florida Attorney General Launches Investigation into OpenAI’s ChatGPT Following FSU Shooting

Attorney General Uthmeier emphasized the need for accountability in a statement posted on social media platform X, asserting that artificial intelligence should serve to advance humanity rather than cause harm. In response to the investigation, an OpenAI spokesperson stated that over 900 million people use ChatGPT weekly for various beneficial purposes, such as learning new skills and navigating complex healthcare systems. The company emphasized its commitment to safety and cooperation with the Attorney General’s investigation, aiming to ensure that ChatGPT understands users’ intents and responds appropriately.
