Christoph Schell, who has served as Intel’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer since February 2022, has announced his resignation, effective June 30, 2025. According to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Schell is stepping down to pursue another career opportunity.
Schell’s tenure at Intel was marked by significant contributions to the company’s sales, marketing, and communications strategies. Before joining Intel, he held prominent positions at HP Inc., including Chief Commercial Officer and President of 3D Printing & Digital Manufacturing. His extensive experience also includes serving as Executive Vice President of Growth Markets for Philips and roles in brand management at Procter & Gamble.
His departure coincides with a period of substantial transformation at Intel under the leadership of CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who assumed the role in December 2024. Tan has initiated a series of strategic changes aimed at revitalizing the company’s position in the semiconductor industry. These initiatives include restructuring divisions into noncore units, divesting the majority stake in the Altera semiconductor business, and streamlining the executive hierarchy. Additionally, Tan has appointed a new Chief of Artificial Intelligence and announced plans to significantly reduce the company’s workforce.
In an effort to enhance collaboration and innovation, Tan recently mandated a four-day in-office workweek for all employees, moving away from previous hybrid and remote work policies. He also reversed earlier plans to spin off Intel Capital, the company’s corporate venture capital arm, signaling a commitment to maintaining and strengthening Intel’s investment capabilities.
As Intel navigates these transformative changes, the company has yet to announce a successor for Schell. His departure adds to the evolving leadership landscape at Intel, reflecting the broader shifts occurring within the organization as it seeks to adapt to the rapidly changing technology sector.
