Apple’s iCloud Services Experience Widespread Outage, Affecting Multiple Applications

On June 24, 2025, Apple users encountered significant disruptions across various iCloud services, including iCloud Mail, Photos, iWork applications, and the Find My feature. The outage commenced at approximately 2:36 PM Eastern Time, as indicated on Apple’s System Status page. Users reported difficulties accessing and utilizing these services, with some experiencing complete inaccessibility.

The Find My service, essential for locating and tracking Apple devices, was notably affected starting at 3:57 PM Eastern Time. This disruption hindered users from finding the location of their devices, listing registered devices, playing sounds on their devices, remotely wiping devices, or placing them in lost mode.

Apple acknowledged the issues, stating that some users were affected and that they may be experiencing a problem with this service. The company worked diligently to resolve the problems, and by approximately 7:00 PM Eastern Time, all affected services were restored to normal functionality.

This incident is part of a series of similar outages that have occurred over the years. For instance, in August 2024, iCloud Mail and iCloud Web Apps experienced downtime, affecting users’ ability to access their emails and web-based applications. Similarly, in December 2022, services like Find My, iCloud Calendar, and iCloud Mail were temporarily unavailable to some users.

These recurring outages highlight the challenges associated with maintaining large-scale cloud services and the impact such disruptions can have on users who rely on these services for daily activities. Apple continues to invest in infrastructure improvements to enhance the reliability and resilience of its cloud services.
