Apple’s ‘F1: The Movie’ Surpasses $500 Million in Global Box Office Revenue

Apple’s cinematic venture, F1: The Movie, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing $500 million in global box office revenue. As of July 27, 2025, the film has amassed approximately $509 million worldwide, with $165 million from the United States and $344 million from international markets. This accomplishment positions F1 as Apple’s most successful theatrical release to date.

The film debuted on June 27, 2025, with an impressive opening weekend gross of $145 million, exceeding industry expectations. While domestic performance has been steady, the movie has particularly resonated with international audiences, leading to an upcoming IMAX re-release in August to capitalize on its ongoing popularity.

F1: The Movie is projected to conclude its theatrical run with earnings exceeding $550 million. Given the film’s substantial production budget, estimated between $200 million and $300 million, the break-even point is likely around $600 million. Despite this, the film’s success enhances Apple’s reputation in the film industry and serves as a valuable addition to its Apple TV+ streaming service.

The film is expected to be available on Apple TV+ in October. However, Apple and distributor Warner Bros. are in no rush to expedite its streaming release, considering the film’s continued strong performance in theaters.

Apple’s future in theatrical releases remains uncertain. While the company continues to produce original films, it has not committed to wide theatrical releases for upcoming projects. The primary strategy appears to be direct-to-streaming releases. For instance, Highest 2 Lowest, starring Denzel Washington, is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on September 5, followed by The Lost Bus featuring Matthew McConaughey.
