Apple has unveiled the beta version 5.0.0 of its Apple Music app for Android, aligning it with the forthcoming iOS 26 features. This update introduces several enhancements and design modifications aimed at improving user experience.
Design Enhancements:
While the Android version retains its existing bottom navigation bar and Now Playing controls, it introduces subtle design refinements. Notably, pill-shaped buttons have replaced the previous rounded rectangles, offering a more contemporary aesthetic. This change is evident in the shuffle, repeat, and autoplay controls at the top of the queue, as well as the Play and Shuffle buttons within albums. However, the home screen widgets remain unchanged in this update.
New Functionalities:
A significant addition is the Pin Music to Your Library feature. This allows users to prioritize their frequently played songs, albums, playlists, or artists by pinning them to the top of their Library for quicker access. The pinning option is accessible through various overflow menus throughout the app. Once pinned, these items synchronize across all Apple devices. To unpin an item, users can long-press it within the Library tab. Additionally, the app offers customization options for the tap action on pinned items, allowing users to choose between navigating to the album, playing the item, or shuffling it. There’s also an option to enable automatic downloads for pinned items, which can be managed in the app’s settings.
Additional Features Highlighted:
The update introduces Lyrics Translation & Pronunciation, enabling users to understand and sing along to lyrics in various languages. Another notable feature is Replay in the App, which provides month-by-month and year-end statistics, allowing users to review their listening habits directly within the app.
