Apple Enhances Safari Privacy with Option to Hide Recent Searches

Apple is strengthening user privacy with a new feature in iOS 18.4 Beta 4 that allows Safari users to hide their recent searches. Previously, when opening a new tab and tapping on the search bar, Safari would display a list of recent searches by default. While convenient for quickly revisiting past queries, this raised concerns for users who share devices or prefer a cleaner, more private browsing experience.

To address this, Apple has introduced a “Show Recent Searches” toggle within Safari’s settings. When turned off, Safari will no longer display recent searches when users interact with the search bar, ensuring a more private and discreet browsing experience. This update is part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to enhance user control and privacy across its ecosystem.

The feature is currently available in the iOS 18.4 beta, with a full public release expected soon. As Apple continues refining its software, this addition reaffirms its focus on giving users more control over their data and browsing habits.
