Apple Delays Siri AI Enhancements to iOS 27 Release in September 2026

Anticipated Siri Enhancements Delayed to iOS 27 Release

Apple’s latest iOS 26.5 beta, released on March 30, 2026, does not include the anticipated Apple Intelligence enhancements for Siri. This omission indicates that users will likely have to wait until the release of iOS 27 in September 2026 to experience the promised Siri upgrades.

Initially, Apple aimed to introduce these new Siri capabilities with iOS 26.4. However, in February 2026, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the company faced challenges related to accuracy issues, leading to potential delays. At that time, Apple engineers were reportedly testing the new Siri features internally using iOS 26.5. Despite these efforts, the current iOS 26.5 beta lacks any signs of the anticipated Siri enhancements.

The absence of these features in the latest beta suggests that their inclusion in iOS 26.5 is increasingly unlikely as the June Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) approaches. Recent reports indicate that iOS 27 will introduce a standalone Siri chatbot app along with the full suite of Apple Intelligence features, suggesting that the public release of the enhanced Siri is now slated for September 2026.

Apple first unveiled the Apple Intelligence-powered Siri at WWDC 2024, with plans for a 2025 release. However, in spring 2025, the company announced a delay, stating that Siri required additional development time. Since then, Apple has committed to launching the revamped Siri in 2026. As long as the new features are introduced before December 2026, Apple will meet its revised timeline.

The upcoming version of Siri in iOS 27 is expected to offer significant advancements, transforming it into a comprehensive chatbot. This evolution aims to position Siri competitively alongside other AI chatbots like Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT.
