Anthropic has unveiled a significant enhancement to its AI chatbot, Claude, by introducing interactive applications that seamlessly integrate with popular workplace tools. This development aims to streamline workflows and boost productivity by allowing users to perform various tasks directly within the Claude interface.
The newly launched feature encompasses integrations with several key platforms, including Slack, Canva, Figma, Box, and Clay, with plans to incorporate Salesforce in the near future. These integrations enable users to execute tasks such as sending messages via Slack, creating visual content in Canva, designing in Figma, and accessing files stored in Box, all without leaving the Claude environment. This cohesive approach is designed to enhance efficiency by reducing the need to switch between different applications.
Anthropic emphasized the synergy between Claude’s AI capabilities and these interactive tools, stating that combining data analysis, content design, and project management within a unified interface allows users to work and iterate more swiftly than using each tool separately.
This feature is accessible to subscribers of Claude’s Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, while free users do not have access to these integrations. Eligible users can activate the tools by visiting claude.ai/directory.
The integration system is built upon the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard introduced by Anthropic in 2024. MCP facilitates seamless app integrations, drawing on collaborative efforts from both Anthropic and other industry leaders. This approach mirrors similar systems, such as OpenAI’s Apps system, which also enables interactive third-party tool integrations.
The new apps are expected to be particularly effective when combined with Claude Cowork, an all-purpose agent tool launched by Anthropic recently. Built on top of Claude Code, Cowork allows users to assign multistage tasks that draw on large and open-ended datasets—tasks that would have previously required terminal commands. When integrated with the new apps feature, Cowork could be granted access to cloud files or ongoing work projects. For example, Cowork could update a marketing graphic in Figma or use new data from the company’s Box instance.
While apps are not available in Cowork at launch, Anthropic has indicated that the integration will be coming soon.
Given the potential unpredictability of agentic systems, Anthropic advises users to monitor the agent closely and avoid granting unnecessary permissions. The company recommends caution when granting access to sensitive information, such as financial documents, credentials, or personal records. It suggests creating a dedicated working folder for Claude rather than granting broad access to ensure security and control over sensitive data.
This strategic enhancement underscores Anthropic’s commitment to providing enterprise-focused solutions that integrate AI capabilities with essential workplace tools, aiming to create a more efficient and cohesive work environment.
