Anduril Advances Real-Time Edge Computing with Klas Acquisition and Menace-T Launch

Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, has announced its acquisition of Klas, a Dublin-based manufacturer specializing in ruggedized edge computing equipment designed for military and first responder applications. This acquisition marks Anduril’s ninth to date and is currently pending regulatory approval. While the financial terms remain undisclosed, Klas employs approximately 150 individuals.

In conjunction with the acquisition, Anduril introduced Menace-T, a compact and portable edge computing system. Unlike traditional command centers that often require substantial infrastructure, Menace-T is designed to fit into two carry-on cases and can be deployed by a single operator within minutes. This innovation aims to provide robust computing and communication capabilities in remote or challenging environments.

Klas’s flagship product line, Voyager, comprises ruggedized computing and networking systems that have been integrated into Anduril’s existing Menace command center products. These systems are also compatible with Anduril’s Lattice software, which utilizes sensors and artificial intelligence to perform tasks such as object identification.

A notable application of Menace-T is its support for the military’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) virtual reality headsets. Initially developed by Microsoft under a $21.9 billion contract awarded in 2018, the IVAS project faced technical challenges over the years. In February 2025, Anduril assumed control of the project, with Microsoft continuing as a cloud partner.

The integration of Anduril’s Lattice software into the IVAS headsets enhances their capabilities by enabling computer vision AI to detect, track, and classify objects. The addition of Klas’s technology through Menace-T is expected to address previous issues related to reliable data processing within the IVAS system.

Tom Keane, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Anduril, highlighted the significance of this development, stating, There are scenarios where soldiers need to communicate with the tactical edge to send data, to receive data, to task autonomous systems, and that’s a place where the Klas technology can help. Klas has already been supplying technology to IVAS for several years in that context. So we expect to do more there.

Beyond military applications, the advancements in real-time edge computing facilitated by Anduril’s acquisition of Klas and the launch of Menace-T have the potential to impact various sectors. Industries such as emergency response, disaster relief, and remote infrastructure management could benefit from the deployment of portable and efficient edge computing solutions in environments where traditional computing resources are impractical.

As Anduril continues to expand its portfolio through strategic acquisitions and product innovations, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of real-time edge computing technology, addressing complex challenges in both defense and civilian sectors.
