ADT Delays Integration of Google Home’s Gemini Features, Maintains Nest Aware Services

ADT, a prominent security services provider, has announced a postponement in integrating Google’s new Gemini features into its systems. This decision affects subscribers who utilize Nest products like Nest Cam and Nest Hub through ADT’s partnership with Google. While these customers rely on the Google Home app for enhanced Nest functionalities, the anticipated Gemini features will not be immediately accessible.

In a statement to 9to5Google, ADT confirmed that the Gemini integration is slated for a future release, though a specific timeline remains undisclosed. The company is currently assessing how Gemini and the Google Home Premium service will impact its existing security products and features. Given that Google has only made these features available in early access, ADT’s cautious approach aims to ensure seamless integration without compromising security.

ADT emphasized its commitment to security, stating:

> ADT takes a security-first approach. ADT will offer Home Premium once integration is tested and ready for critical security use cases.

During this interim period, ADT subscribers will continue to benefit from Nest Aware services and can utilize the redesigned Google Home app. However, the new Gemini features for Nest cameras, speakers, and the app itself will be temporarily unavailable. New Nest hardware will remain compatible with ADT accounts, operating under Nest Aware instead of Home Premium. ADT also indicated that the rollout of Gemini features will be phased, with some functionalities becoming available before others, suggesting a staggered release to all subscribers.

Google’s latest Nest hardware is currently available for purchase, while ADT’s security systems continue to be offered to consumers.
