At the IFA 2025 event, Acer introduced two new Android tablets, the Iconia X12 and Iconia X14, both featuring AMOLED displays at competitive prices. The Iconia X12 boasts a 12.6-inch screen with a resolution of 2560×1600, while the Iconia X14 offers a 14-inch display at 1920×1200. Both models come equipped with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, 8,000 mAh batteries, Android 15, and microSD card support.
The Iconia X12 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, a 6nm processor released in 2022, commonly found in budget-friendly Android devices. This choice suggests that while the tablet should perform adequately for everyday tasks, its longevity in terms of software updates may be limited. Acer plans to offer keyboard and stylus accessories for this model, enhancing its versatility.
In contrast, the Iconia X14 utilizes the Allwinner A733 chipset, a 12nm processor introduced in 2024. Allwinner chips are typically used in television products rather than tablets, raising questions about this selection. The older manufacturing process of the A733 results in less efficient power consumption, leading to a notable difference in battery life between the two models. Acer estimates the X12 can achieve up to 16 hours of usage, whereas the X14 is expected to last around 10 hours.
Despite these concerns, the inclusion of OLED displays at such affordable price points makes the Iconia X series appealing. The Iconia X12 and X14 are set to launch in North America, Europe, and other markets in November, priced at $320 and $340, respectively.
Additionally, Acer is introducing two Iconia A series tablets, both featuring the Allwinner A733 chipset and IPS displays. The Iconia A14, with a 14-inch FHD display, will be available in November for $300, while the Iconia A16, featuring a 16-inch FHD display, is scheduled for release in January.
