Apple Records Best Ever Year for Mac Sales During Fiscal 2026

Apple has broken its previous Mac sales record, selling more Macs during fiscal 2026 than any prior year. This milestone was announced by CEO John Ternus during the company’s Q4 earnings call, bolstered by strong demand across the MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro lines. The achievement came despite ongoing supply constraints impacting several Mac models.

Mac Business Drives Double-Digit Growth

Mac revenue in the September quarter—Apple’s fourth fiscal quarter—reached approximately $10.8 billion, a nearly 24 percent year-over-year increase. This growth was fueled mainly by the MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro, which attracted both new and returning customers, including those outside of Apple’s traditional strongholds.

For the full fiscal year ending September 26, 2026, Mac revenue jumped to $37.93 billion, up from $33.71 billion in 2025. Apple attributed this rise largely to increased laptop sales across developed and emerging markets, showing particularly strong traction in regions such as India and Southeast Asia.

Supply Constraints & Memory Costs Take Center Stage

Even as sales reached new heights, Apple faced headwinds from supply issues—particularly for memory components—and soaring memory prices that may have impacted margins. Executive leadership warned that these challenges are likely to persist into the December quarter.

Particularly telling is how Apple has elevated its purchasing obligations to secure more components and manage supply risks. These efforts come just as some Mac models—including the budget-oriented Neo—see their prices rise. The MacBook Neo, for example, has had its base price bumped from $599 to $699 to offset component shortages.

New Faces, New Markets

The MacBook Neo—Apple’s entry-level notebook—has emerged as a key catalyst in attracting first-time Mac users. Education demand has surged, highlighted by a deal with the Philippines’ Department of Education for 170,000 Neo units. Meanwhile, upgrade cycles among existing users and shipments in emerging markets are breaking records.

Apple’s annual results paint a picture of broad strength. Total net revenue for fiscal 2026 was $478.83 billion—a 15 percent increase over fiscal 2025. Services and the iPhone line also contributed record performances, ensuring the company’s best fiscal year ever.

As Apple eyes the coming quarters, the company’s ability to sustain growth will depend heavily on its capacity to navigate component shortages—especially memory—and maintain momentum for Neo and Pro lines through refreshes like those scheduled for the MacBook Pro and iMac models. With the market tightening globally, Mac’s record year sets a high bar, both for Apple and the wider PC ecosystem.
