TikTok is rolling out new features to make commenting more immersive. Starting globally in different waves, users will now see voice comments, polls, photo carousels, and Live Photo comments under videos—transforming comments from basic feedback into richer interaction hubs. Users aged 18 and over will be the first to try them.
What’s being added
The voice comments feature lets users record up to one minute of audio by tapping a microphone icon. Once posted, anyone viewing the comment can tap to play it. TikTok says these voice comments follow the same content rules as its other formats, with both automated tools and human moderation—plus speech-to-text analysis—used to detect violations. This feature will launch globally over the next month for adults.
Polls in comments are also expanding. Previously limited to select creators, polls are now available globally for all creators commenting on their own videos. Creators can set up polls with up to five options and define a voting timeframe. Results appear directly in the comments section as votes roll in. Typical uses include picking outfits, video ideas, or where to eat.
On the visual side, comment styles are getting upgrades. Photo carousel comments allow up to nine images in a single comment—an increase over the one-image limit. Also new are Live Photo comments, which show a brief motion preview before revealing the full image. Photo carousel comments will roll out globally over the coming month, while Live Photo comments are already available worldwide.
