Apple is set to deviate from its traditional iPhone release schedule by postponing the launch of the standard iPhone 18 model until early 2027. This shift was indirectly confirmed during Pegatron’s recent earnings call, where the company indicated a change in a major client’s smartphone shipment timeline. Reports suggest that Apple will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its inaugural foldable device, the ‘iPhone Ultra,’ in September 2026, with the standard iPhone 18 following in the first quarter of 2027.
Historically, Apple has unveiled its base iPhone models alongside Pro versions each September. The decision to delay the standard iPhone 18 marks a significant departure from this pattern. This strategy aligns with earlier reports from industry analysts, including Ming-Chi Kuo, who have indicated Apple’s plans to stagger the release of its iPhone 18 series.
In addition to the standard iPhone 18, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18e and the iPhone Air 2 around March 2027. This staggered release schedule is anticipated to result in six new iPhone models by the end of March 2027:
