Ring has announced an upgraded version of its Peephole Cam, now featuring 2K resolution. This device is designed to replace traditional door peepholes, offering a smart security solution without the need for drilling or permanent modifications, making it particularly suitable for renters.
The original Peephole Cam was introduced in 2019, providing a wire-free video doorbell that transformed standard peepholes into smart security devices. It featured motion detection, two-way talk, and 1080p HD video. However, it was quietly discontinued earlier this year, leaving a gap in the market for such renter-friendly security solutions.
The new Peephole Cam 2K addresses this by enhancing video quality to 2K resolution, ensuring clearer footage. It also boasts a slimmer design and is available in three colors: Speckled Gray, Speckled White, and Matte Mocha. The latter two color options are priced at $109, while the Speckled Gray variant is available for $99. The device is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery pack, offering up to 120 days of battery life, and supports quick recharging.
Pre-orders for the Peephole Cam 2K are currently open on Ring’s official website and Amazon, with shipments expected to begin on August 19.
