The Outsiders, an exercise-tracking app tailored for high-performance athletes, has released version 1.7.6, introducing several enhancements aimed at providing deeper workout insights and improved sharing capabilities.
One of the key updates is the transformation of the ‘Splits’ interface into a more comprehensive ‘Breakdown’ section. This revamped feature offers detailed analyses of workouts, including intervals, manually marked segments, and equal-distance splits for activities such as running, cycling, and swimming. This enhancement allows athletes to gain a clearer understanding of their performance across different segments of their training sessions.
In addition to the enhanced analytics, The Outsiders now offers customizable sharing options. Users can personalize their workout summaries with various map styles—light, dark, or satellite—and select backgrounds or opt for transparency. They can also filter and display specific workout statistics, enabling them to share their training achievements in a visually appealing and personalized manner.
For runners, the app has introduced the ‘Relative Intensity’ metric, previously available to cyclists. This metric compares a runner’s average heart rate with their lactate threshold heart rate, providing insight into the intensity of their workout relative to their personal limits. The lactate threshold heart rate is defined as the maximum heart rate an individual can sustain for approximately an hour, offering a valuable benchmark for assessing workout intensity.
Additional improvements in this update include the integration of temperature data from non-Apple Watch devices that sync with Apple Health. This means that body temperature metrics from compatible devices will now automatically appear within the app, providing a more holistic view of the user’s health data. Furthermore, the user interface for setting personal training goals has been refreshed, making the process more intuitive and seamless.
The Outsiders continues to evolve, offering athletes advanced tools to monitor and share their training progress. These updates not only enhance the app’s functionality but also reflect a commitment to meeting the needs of dedicated athletes seeking comprehensive performance tracking and personalized sharing options.
