WhatsApp has enhanced its iPhone application by integrating in-call controls that allow users to adjust microphone settings directly during calls. This update simplifies the process of selecting between different microphone modes, which previously required accessing the Control Center.
Users can now choose from four distinct microphone modes:
- Automatic: Dynamically selects the optimal microphone mode based on the call or recording context.
- Standard: Utilizes default voice processing settings.
- Voice Isolation: Focuses on the user’s voice while minimizing ambient noise.
- Wide Spectrum: Captures a broader range of ambient sounds without filtering.
To access these settings during a call, users can tap the “More” button on the call interface and select “Mic Mode” to choose their preferred option. Once a mode is selected, it remains active for subsequent calls until changed.
It’s important to note that Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum modes require iOS 15 or later and are compatible with iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and newer models. The Automatic mode necessitates iOS 18 or later.
This feature is being rolled out gradually, so availability may vary among users.
By integrating these in-call microphone controls, WhatsApp enhances user convenience and call quality, aligning with its ongoing efforts to improve the communication experience on iOS devices.
