Google Voice Introduces Paid Plans with Advanced Features

Google Voice, traditionally a free service for personal use, has expanded its offerings to include paid subscription plans aimed at small businesses and individual users seeking enhanced features. Previously, advanced functionalities were exclusive to enterprise customers with Google Workspace subscriptions. Now, two new standalone plans are available without the need for a Workspace account.

The first option, Google Voice Starter, is priced at $10 per month. This plan offers professional features such as three-way calling, seamless call transfers, easy call recording, and support for desktop phones. Subscribers also gain 24/7 access to Google Voice support, and their numbers are safeguarded against reclamation due to inactivity.

For those requiring more advanced capabilities, the Google Voice Standard plan is available at $20 per month. This tier includes all Starter features and adds automated call handling with auto attendants. Additionally, it integrates with Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, to provide services like call transcription, conversation summaries, and action item generation. These summaries are accessible within the Google Voice app and are also emailed as Google Docs post-call.

To upgrade, users can select the ‘Upgrade Voice’ option in the Google Voice app or visit g.co/voice/upgrade. Notably, the Standard plan currently offers a 50% discount for the first six months, making it an attractive option for those looking to enhance their communication tools.

By introducing these paid plans, Google Voice is positioning itself as a versatile solution for both personal and small business communication needs. The inclusion of AI-driven features like Gemini’s call summarization reflects a broader trend of integrating artificial intelligence into everyday tools, potentially setting a new standard for VoIP services.
