Apple has released the third beta of watchOS 27 to developers, continuing the refinement of its upcoming Apple Watch operating system. This latest beta arrives two weeks after the second beta, signaling a steady progression toward the final release.
Developers can install the beta through the Watch app on an iPhone with a free developer account. To proceed with the installation, the Apple Watch must be on its charger, connected to Wi-Fi, and have at least a 50% battery charge. Notably, this beta is available for all Apple Watch models compatible with watchOS 27, with the exception of the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
watchOS 27 introduces several significant features aimed at enhancing user experience. A standout addition is Siri AI, a more advanced and capable version of Apple’s voice assistant. This iteration of Siri can engage in back-and-forth conversations and has access to both general world knowledge and personal user data, enabling it to provide more comprehensive answers and information. However, utilizing Siri AI on the Apple Watch requires an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, specifically the iPhone 15 Pro and later models.
The update also brings a Dynamic app grid that highlights Siri-suggested apps, offering a more personalized and intuitive interface. Smart Stack Suggestions have been improved for better usability. Additional features include the ability to locate a parked car, view pinned messages, receive noise alerts, and access identity and transit cards directly from the watch.
Enhancements to the Liquid Glass feature improve on-screen legibility, making it easier to read information at a glance. The Workout Buddy app now functions independently of the iPhone, allowing users to track their workouts without needing their phone nearby. It also introduces new metrics, such as progressive increases in distance, pace, or duration, providing more detailed insights into fitness progress.
Apple has consolidated the Find My app into an all-in-one interface with support for Precision Finding, simplifying the process of locating devices and items. Performance optimizations in this beta aim to extend battery life, addressing a common concern among users.
As Apple continues to refine watchOS 27, these updates reflect the company’s commitment to enhancing the functionality and user experience of the Apple Watch. Developers are encouraged to explore these new features and provide feedback to ensure a polished final release.
