Netris Secures $15M Series A to Accelerate AI Neocloud Deployments

The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) has spurred a surge in data center initiatives, particularly among emerging ‘neocloud’ providers. These entities aim to offer specialized cloud services tailored for AI workloads. However, establishing such data centers is a complex endeavor, involving the procurement and configuration of GPUs, network switches, and storage systems. The process can be time-consuming, often taking months to become operational, during which valuable hardware resources remain underutilized.

Addressing this challenge, Netris, a network automation startup, has developed a solution designed to expedite the deployment of AI-focused data centers. The company’s software operates directly on network switches, automating the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of network infrastructure. This automation significantly reduces the time required for neocloud providers to become operational. Additionally, Netris offers network abstraction capabilities, allowing for flexible hardware configurations and efficient resource isolation, thereby enabling multi-tenant environments where multiple customers can be served simultaneously.

Traditionally, large infrastructure operators like Equinix, NTT, Digital Realty, Oracle, Microsoft, AWS, and Google have dominated the data center landscape. These companies have the resources to develop in-house automation solutions or employ extensive engineering teams to manage network configurations. In contrast, smaller neocloud providers often lack such resources, making Netris’ offering particularly valuable. The company’s platform provides a hardware-accelerated alternative to traditional software-defined networking (SDN) solutions, which may not meet the high-performance demands of AI workloads.

Netris’ technology has garnered attention from industry leaders, including Nvidia. Approximately two years ago, Nvidia recognized the potential of Netris’ solution and recommended it to several customers. Today, Netris’ platform is operational in over 35 GPU clusters worldwide, encompassing around one million GPUs. Notable clients include Lightning AI, Foxconn, Visionbay, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Tensorwave, and Telus.

To further its mission, Netris has secured a $15 million Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). This investment will enable the company to enhance its product offerings and expand its market reach, supporting the growing demand for efficient AI data center deployments.

The increasing reliance on AI across various industries underscores the need for specialized infrastructure capable of handling intensive computational tasks. Netris’ innovative approach to network automation addresses a critical bottleneck in the deployment of AI-focused data centers. By reducing setup times and optimizing resource utilization, Netris empowers neocloud providers to deliver services more rapidly and efficiently. As the AI landscape continues to evolve, solutions like those offered by Netris will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cloud computing.
