Apple TV+ Renews ‘Widow’s Bay’ for Season 2

Apple TV+ has officially renewed its acclaimed horror-comedy series, “Widow’s Bay,” for a second season. This announcement comes just ahead of the season one finale, scheduled to premiere on June 17.

“Widow’s Bay” debuted in April 2026 and quickly garnered critical acclaim, achieving a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series has also climbed to the top of Apple TV+’s charts in several countries, including the United States.

The show stars Matthew Rhys as Mayor Tom Loftis, who is determined to rejuvenate his struggling island community. The town faces challenges such as limited Wi-Fi and spotty cellular reception, compounded by superstitious locals who believe the island is cursed. Loftis aims to transform the island into a tourist destination to build a better future for his teenage son. However, as tourists begin to arrive, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.

The ensemble cast includes Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey. The series is created and executive-produced by Katie Dippold, with Hiro Murai serving as director and executive producer.

In addition to the renewal, Apple TV+ has signed a multiyear overall deal with Dippold, though specific details have not been disclosed. As of now, there is no information regarding the premiere date for the second season or potential changes to the cast.

The renewal of “Widow’s Bay” underscores Apple TV+’s commitment to investing in original content that resonates with audiences. The show’s unique blend of horror and comedy has struck a chord with viewers, and the upcoming season is highly anticipated. Fans can look forward to more eerie mysteries and unexpected laughs as the series continues to explore the challenges of revitalizing a cursed island community.
