iPhone 18 Pro Battery Leak Reveals Minor Capacity Increase, Enhanced Features Expected

iPhone 18 Pro Battery Capacities Allegedly Leaked

Recent leaks have unveiled the anticipated battery capacities for Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro, indicating only slight enhancements over its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro. According to the reputable Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is reportedly testing the iPhone 18 Pro with varying battery sizes for the Chinese and U.S. markets, mirroring the approach taken with the iPhone 17 Pro models.

The Chinese variant is expected to house a battery of approximately 4,056 mAh, while the U.S. version may feature a slightly larger 4,288 mAh battery. This discrepancy is attributed to Apple’s decision to eliminate the physical SIM card tray in U.S. models starting with the iPhone 14 series, thereby freeing up internal space to accommodate a marginally larger battery. In contrast, Chinese models have retained the SIM card tray, resulting in a minor difference in battery capacity.

When compared to the iPhone 17 Pro, the projected increases are modest:

– China / Physical SIM Model: From 3,988 mAh to 4,056 mAh, an increase of 68 mAh or approximately 1.7%.

– U.S. / eSIM-Only Model: From 4,252 mAh to 4,288 mAh, an increase of 36 mAh or about 0.8%.

These incremental enhancements suggest that Apple is focusing on optimizing energy efficiency through hardware and software advancements rather than significantly enlarging battery capacities.

In February, Digital Chat Station also hinted that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery capacity in the 5,000 mAh range, with the Chinese version around 5,000 mAh and international versions between 5,100 mAh and 5,200 mAh.

It’s important to note that these figures are based on leaks and should be considered unconfirmed until official announcements are made.

Beyond battery capacities, the iPhone 18 Pro is anticipated to introduce several notable features:

– A20 Pro Chip: Utilizing TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, this chip is expected to enhance power efficiency and overall performance.

– C2 Modem: A new modem that could contribute to improved battery life and connectivity.

– Smaller Dynamic Island: A refined design element that may offer a more immersive display experience.

– Variable Aperture Main Camera: An upgraded camera system with a variable aperture to enhance photography capabilities.

These enhancements suggest that while the battery capacity increases are minimal, the combination of a more efficient processor, advanced modem, and other hardware improvements could lead to a noticeable boost in battery life and overall device performance.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled in September, continuing Apple’s tradition of annual flagship releases.
