Google Expedites Google Health Rollout Amid Fitbit Air Pairing Challenges
Google has recently accelerated the deployment of its Google Health app to address pairing issues encountered by early adopters of the new Fitbit Air fitness tracker. The transition from the Fitbit app to Google Health began approximately a week ago, introducing a rebranded interface that integrates features previously available in the Fitbit app.
While iOS users received the update promptly, the rollout for Android users progressed more slowly. This delay posed significant challenges for Fitbit Air owners, as the new device requires Google Health 5.0 for setup and functionality. Without this update, users were unable to pair their Fitbit Air trackers, leading to frustration among early recipients.
In response to user concerns expressed on platforms like Reddit, a Google representative acknowledged the issue and confirmed efforts to expedite the Android rollout. The representative stated, We are doing our best today to accelerate the rollout of the updated app on Android via Play to accommodate early deliveries and it should be available shortly. Anyone on iOS should be able to update via the App Store already. Look for an update soon, as yes, you do need the new Google Health (version 5.0) to pair and use the [Fitbit Air].
As of Saturday evening, the accelerated rollout appears to have reached a broader audience, alleviating the initial pairing issues faced by Fitbit Air users.
