YouTube is enhancing its platform with AI-driven features, introducing ‘Ask YouTube’ for conversational search and integrating Google’s Gemini Omni into Shorts, as reported by TechCrunch.
‘Ask YouTube’ allows users to pose complex queries, such as seeking tips on teaching a child to ride a bike or finding creator reviews of cozy games. The AI compiles relevant Shorts and long-form videos to generate comprehensive responses. Premium subscribers in the U.S. on desktop can access this feature through YouTube’s experimental offerings.
Additionally, YouTube is incorporating Gemini Omni, Google’s advanced AI video model, into the Shorts Remix feature and the YouTube Create app. This integration enables users to create and build upon each other’s content more effectively. YouTube stated, “The model better understands user intent, creating more consistent and meaningful storytelling while also handling complex video and audio adjustments behind the scenes.”
To address concerns about AI-generated content, YouTube is expanding its likeness-detection tool to creators aged 18 and older. This tool helps prevent unauthorized use of creators’ images in AI-generated videos. Creators can request the removal of content that misrepresents them.
These developments reflect YouTube’s commitment to integrating AI technologies to enhance user experience and content creation. As AI becomes more prevalent in digital platforms, YouTube’s proactive measures aim to balance innovation with user protection.
