Apple is set to enhance its Genmoji feature in the upcoming iOS 27 by introducing personalized suggestions derived from users’ photo libraries and typing habits, as reported by 9to5Mac. This development aims to make Genmoji more intuitive and engaging.
Initially launched in iOS 18.2 as part of Apple Intelligence, Genmoji allowed users to create custom emojis through text prompts. While innovative, the feature had its limitations. Subsequent updates, such as iOS 26, introduced deeper customization and the ability to combine existing emojis.
The forthcoming iOS 27 update will introduce ‘Suggested Genmoji,’ which are generated based on users’ photos and frequently used phrases. This functionality will be optional, with a toggle available in the keyboard settings of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.
While this feature has the potential to enhance user experience by providing contextually relevant emoji suggestions, it also raises privacy considerations. Users may have concerns about their personal data being utilized in this manner. Fortunately, Apple has addressed this by allowing users to disable the feature if they choose.
As Apple continues to integrate AI-driven features into its ecosystem, the success of ‘Suggested Genmoji’ will depend on its ability to balance personalization with user privacy. Observing user adoption and feedback will be crucial in determining the feature’s impact and acceptance.
