In response to the influx of AI-generated applications, Apple has begun enforcing stricter app review guidelines. The company recently removed or blocked updates to AI-based coding apps such as Anything and Replit, citing violations of its App Review Guidelines and Developer Program rules. The primary concern revolves around apps that generate code capable of altering their core functionality post-approval, which Apple prohibits to maintain user safety and platform integrity.
Developers have expressed concerns about prolonged review times. Elon Musk commented, iOS App Review delays are getting ridiculous. Apple refuted these claims, asserting that it reviews 90% of submissions within 48 hours and processes over 200,000 apps weekly.
