Apple’s Siri in iOS 27: A Leap Towards Advanced Multitasking and AI Integration
Apple is set to revolutionize user interaction with Siri in the upcoming iOS 27 update by introducing the capability to process multiple commands within a single request. This enhancement aims to streamline user experience, eliminating the need to issue separate instructions for each task. For instance, users will be able to simultaneously request directions and share them via Messages without disrupting the flow of interaction.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is actively testing this feature as part of its broader Apple Intelligence initiative. The new functionality will allow users to combine requests—such as checking the weather, creating a calendar appointment, and sending a message—all within a single prompt. This marks a significant departure from Siri’s current limitation of processing one command at a time, positioning it closer to modern AI assistants that support complex, multi-step requests.
Siri’s Evolution Towards Chatbot-Like Intelligence
Beyond multitasking, Apple is redesigning Siri to function more like a chatbot that comprehends natural language, maintains context, and operates seamlessly across applications. The assistant will be capable of understanding on-screen content, accessing personal context, and executing actions across multiple apps in a single interaction.
Additionally, Apple is developing features such as web-based summaries under a system internally referred to as World Knowledge Answers, along with potential image generation tools through Image Playground integration.
These advancements are expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8, 2026, where iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 will be showcased. The rollout of the enhanced Siri is planned for September, though some features may be introduced later as part of ongoing updates and could initially carry a Preview label.
