Apple TV+ Unveils First Look at Scorsese’s ‘What Happens at Night’ Starring DiCaprio and Lawrence
Apple Original Films has released the first official image from Martin Scorsese’s upcoming psychological thriller, What Happens at Night. This highly anticipated film features Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as a married American couple embarking on a surreal and challenging journey.
Currently, principal photography is underway across the Czech Republic. This project marks the seventh collaboration between the legendary director and DiCaprio, while it is Lawrence’s first time working with Scorsese.
A Haunting Tale Set in a Snowy Landscape
Adapted by Patrick Marber from Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel, the film follows an unnamed husband and wife traveling to an isolated European town to adopt a baby. The wife is battling a severe illness, making the trip physically taxing. Upon arrival, they check into a massive hotel populated by enigmatic characters. As they strive to finalize the adoption, their grasp on reality and their marriage begins to unravel.
The newly released promotional photo sets a distinctly cold and dreamlike tone. It shows DiCaprio and Lawrence walking hand in hand down a snowy road with a vintage taxi idling in the background.

Industry insiders indicate that the film leans heavily into psychological horror elements, reminiscent of Scorsese’s previous work on Shutter Island. This news comes shortly after Apple TV released the first two episodes of the thriller Imperfect Women and added Jesse Williams to the cast of The Morning Show season 5.
A Stellar Cast and Production Team
Beyond the two lead actors, the movie features a strong supporting cast, including Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, Jared Harris, and Welker White. The film is a joint production between Apple Studios, Studiocanal, and Scorsese’s own Sikelia Productions. Both DiCaprio and Lawrence are also serving as producers.
Scorsese and Apple recently partnered on Killers of the Flower Moon, which garnered massive critical acclaim. While Apple has not yet announced an official release date for What Happens at Night, the current shooting schedule suggests a potential premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
