Apple Temporarily Closes UAE Stores Amid Regional Tensions

In response to escalating regional tensions, Apple has temporarily closed all five of its retail stores and corporate offices in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The affected locations include two stores in Abu Dhabi—Apple Al Maryah Island and Apple Yas Mall—and three in Dubai: Apple Dubai Mall, Apple Mall of the Emirates, and Apple Al Jimi Mall. These closures commenced on Saturday, February 28, at 3 p.m., and are expected to last through at least Tuesday, March 3.

This decision aligns with the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s recent directive, which advises private sector establishments to implement remote working arrangements and minimize the presence of workers in open areas, except for essential roles requiring physical attendance. The ministry’s recommendation spans from Sunday, March 1, to Tuesday, March 3, with the possibility of extension depending on the evolving situation.

The closures come amid heightened conflict in the Middle East, following recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran. Apple’s proactive measure aims to ensure the safety of both its employees and customers during this period of uncertainty.

Apple has a significant presence in the UAE, with its stores serving as key hubs for customers to explore products, receive support, and participate in community events. The company has been operating in the region for over a decade, with more than 600 team members across the UAE. Since opening its first stores in the country in 2015, Apple has welcomed nearly 30 million visitors.

The temporary closures underscore the company’s commitment to prioritizing health and safety amid geopolitical challenges. Customers are encouraged to utilize Apple’s online services and support channels during this period.
