Apple to Begin Manufacturing Mac Mini in the United States This Year
Apple has announced plans to commence manufacturing its Mac mini computers in the United States later this year. This strategic move was revealed by Sabih Khan, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, during a video interview with The Wall Street Journal.
During a tour of a Foxconn facility in Houston, Texas, Khan stated, We’re very excited to tell you that later this year we will be beginning Mac mini manufacturing right here in this space. When inquired about the production volume, Khan mentioned that Apple produces thousands every week and expressed intentions to scale up Mac mini production to better serve customers in the region.
Historically, the Mac mini has been manufactured in Vietnam and China. Apple’s decision to shift some of its production to the U.S. aligns with its broader strategy to diversify its manufacturing footprint and reduce dependency on overseas facilities. This initiative also reflects Apple’s commitment to investing in the American economy and creating domestic job opportunities.
This development is part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the challenges posed by tariffs on imported products and to strengthen its supply chain resilience. By localizing production, Apple aims to enhance operational efficiency and respond more swiftly to market demands.
The announcement coincides with President Trump’s 2026 State of the Union address, underscoring the significance of domestic manufacturing in the current economic and political landscape.
