Google’s Gemini App Surpasses 750 Million Monthly Active Users, Setting New AI Milestone
Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 750 million monthly active users (MAUs), as revealed in the company’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings report. This rapid growth underscores Gemini’s escalating prominence in the competitive AI landscape.
In the previous quarter, Gemini reported 650 million MAUs, indicating a substantial increase within a short timeframe. For context, Meta AI has reported nearly 500 million monthly users, while ChatGPT, Gemini’s primary competitor, was estimated to have around 810 million MAUs by late 2025.
This surge in user engagement coincides with the launch of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced AI model to date. Gemini 3 is designed to deliver responses with unprecedented depth and nuance, enhancing user experience and solidifying Gemini’s position in the AI sector.
CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the positive impact of Gemini 3 during the earnings call, stating that its introduction in AI mode has been a significant growth driver. He emphasized the company’s commitment to continuous investment and iteration to sustain this momentum.
To further broaden its user base, Google recently introduced the Google AI Plus plan, priced at $7.99 per month. This more affordable subscription is aimed at attracting budget-conscious consumers, although it was launched too recently to influence the current quarterly figures.
Philipp Schindler, Google’s Chief Business Officer, noted during the investor call, We are focused on a free tier and subscriptions and seeing great growth.
Gemini’s impressive growth aligns with Alphabet’s overall financial performance, as the company surpassed $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time this quarter. This achievement is largely attributed to the expansion of its AI division, which has experienced increased demand. Additionally, Google introduced the latest generation of its TPU AI accelerator chip, named Ironwood, to compete with industry leaders like Nvidia.
Pichai further elaborated on the company’s AI advancements, stating, The launch of Gemini 3 was a major milestone, and we have great momentum. Our first-party models, like Gemini, now process over 10 billion tokens per minute via direct API use by our customers, and the Gemini App has grown to over 750 million monthly active users. Search saw more usage than ever before, with AI continuing to drive an expansionary moment.
The rapid adoption of Gemini reflects a broader trend in the AI industry, where user-friendly and efficient AI tools are becoming integral to daily digital interactions. As AI technology continues to evolve, platforms like Gemini are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital communication and information retrieval.
