The new option will allow users to tap a Smart Reply to populate the compose field, enabling edits before sending. This update aims to provide greater personalization and reduce accidental messages. The feature is anticipated to be available in an upcoming beta release.
This development is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to refine its messaging platform. In May 2024, Google Messages introduced the ability to edit RCS messages within 15 minutes of sending, allowing users to correct errors or update information promptly. Additionally, the Magic Compose feature, launched in May 2023, utilizes AI to generate contextually relevant replies and rewrite messages in various styles, enhancing communication versatility.
