Spotify Increases U.S. Subscription Prices for the Third Time in Three Years
Spotify has announced another price increase for its U.S. subscribers, marking the third hike in as many years. The individual Premium plan will now cost $12.99 per month, up from the previous $11.99. This change will take effect from the next billing cycle, with subscribers receiving email notifications about the adjustment.
In a blog post, Spotify stated that periodic pricing updates across markets reflect the value the platform delivers, enabling the company to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists.
This move aligns with earlier reports from November 2025, where the Financial Times indicated that Spotify planned to raise U.S. prices in the first quarter of 2026. Analysts from JPMorgan estimated that a $1 monthly increase could boost Spotify’s revenue by approximately $500 million.
Spotify has implemented similar price increases in other markets, including the U.K. and Switzerland, over the past year. The company first raised U.S. prices in 2023, increasing the individual plan from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. In June 2024, another $1 increase brought the price to $11.99.
As of the third quarter of 2025, Spotify reported over 281 million paid users worldwide, with 25% residing in North America. In addition to the U.S., the company is also raising prices in Estonia and Latvia.
