Nvidia’s GeForce Now to Enforce 100-Hour Monthly Streaming Cap Starting January 2026
Nvidia’s cloud gaming platform, GeForce Now, is set to implement a 100-hour monthly streaming limit for most users beginning January 1, 2026. This change will affect subscribers across various tiers, including the free, $10, and $20 plans, who have enjoyed unrestricted access to a vast library of PC games on devices such as smartphones, tablets, TVs, and computers.
The 100-hour cap was initially announced in 2024, targeting new users at that time. Existing subscribers were granted a grace period, allowing them to continue unlimited play until their first billing cycle on or after January 1, 2026, provided their premium membership remained active and in good standing. This transition period is now concluding, bringing the new limitations into effect for nearly all users.
Under the new policy, once a user reaches the 100-hour monthly limit, they have the option to purchase additional playtime. For the Performance tier, 15-hour blocks are available for $2.99, while Ultimate tier users can purchase the same for $5.99. Alternatively, users can continue playing under the free tier’s restrictions, which include one-hour session limits and the presence of advertisements.
Nvidia has updated its FAQ page to clarify that both Performance and Ultimate members will be subject to the 100-hour limit, with the possibility of rolling over up to 15 unused hours to the following month. Notably, original Founders members are exempt from this limitation and will retain unlimited playtime for the duration of their subscription, as long as there is no lapse in their membership.
This policy shift aims to maintain low queue times and ensure a high-quality experience for all users. Nvidia estimates that less than 6% of users will be impacted by this change. As the implementation date approaches, subscribers are encouraged to review their gaming habits and consider how the new limits may affect their usage.
