Google Postpones Gemini’s Takeover of Assistant to 2026
In a recent development, Google has announced a delay in its plan to replace Google Assistant with Gemini on Android devices. Initially slated for completion by the end of 2025, the transition is now expected to extend into 2026. This decision aims to ensure a seamless user experience during the shift.
The transition from Google Assistant to Gemini signifies a significant evolution in Google’s approach to virtual assistants. Gemini, introduced as a more advanced AI-driven assistant, is designed to offer enhanced conversational capabilities and a deeper understanding of user intent. As of now, users can still opt to switch back to Google Assistant within the Gemini app, including on devices like the Pixel 10 series.
